“’Audio Anomolie’ possibly even hindered me,” was my impression at the time of the release of this, my first guitar CD. Today one sees that obviously my primary wish – my egotism possibly, to express myself through guitar, had to be edited before it became too large of a musical, emotional and thematic variety. And that, even though I still maintain “Audio Anomolie” is an emotional orgy. This time it has truly become an orgy with red flags waving.
“TransPacific” represents my experience with the greatest ocean of the world from different endured perspectives. It was unknown to me for a year, that these perceptions appeared to have affected me in so many different ways, and that my Panama travel - as a part of the project “Big Cities of Latin America” - had left such an impression that something like “The Panama Canal Reconstruction Suite” could emerge – and really had to. And I certainly understood that this work could not be released separately, but would be included on my Pacific Association CD as a bonus.
The aforementioned diversity leads to another, lavish detail in the production - more sound specials, many very different drums, more guitar-synthesizer. I would like to thank Thomas Ihl who was responsible for the mastering. Also new to this production, I have included a personal commentary with each title. These are connected to an almost overwhelming booklet, also incidentally comprehensible to the gracious international listening public. My thanks go here to Wolfgang KE Lehmann who designed the layout with me and to Erik Eek for the occasionally brilliant English translations.

I have finally overcome my inhibitions!! Yes, I admit, I can see the danger of feeling sorry for myself. I had to first get to the age of 41 before I could finally overthrow these strange, sub-conscious restraints and publicly put a price on the essence of the last ten years work on the electric guitar, thereby finally making myself 'heard of'. Maybe that's it: this CD is much more personal than my ethnological researches, trips or publications could ever have been. "Audio Anomalie" could even possibly have handicapped me. How can hopefully be seen in the near future. At least, I had these self-justification thoughts in my head too: maybe I have to let all these guitar effusions out first before something else, concerning myself, can happen.
Whatever the case, the CD is there - and me as well, open for all possible reactions. It contains mainly improvisations of the electric guitar, even when it often doesn't sound like it. I've used many tricks - technical and playing and sometimes I was so amazed myself at the results that after one piece I just had to keep playing. This is actually how, for example, tracks 1 and 2, came into being, in direct succession. "Lo oscuro de la luz" represents feelings during a trip to Easter Island when the plane pitched a couple of hundred meters as we crossed the Atlantic in a Boeing 747 in bad weather.
The CD generally contains "mood music" in the truest meaning of the words. It has arisen from situations that have that feeling of being divided as well as the feeling of being completely at one with myself. "Desperate Hope" bears witness to one side and "Feel God" to the other side of me.
The tips that can be read on the cover are the consequences of my own previous experiences with this music and are therefore meant seriously. I would not listen to certain pieces whilst driving - the danger of drifting off into your own world of feelings, those that actually have very little to do with road traffic, is too great. "If you're able to listen to this CD without a break, then you are ready for revolution", and, whatever you understand by 'revolution', it can catch up with you.
