"Extreme Osterinsel"
Between 1994 and 2000, I spent eight months on Easter Island in the Pacific. Inspite of increasing Western influence, I still had the chance to study and experience Rapa Nui - that's the name of Easter Island in the native language - with its old traditions and rites.
As a musician and music therapist, I was particularly fascinated by the fact that the islanders do not separate work and leisure. Unlike us, they draw their vitality from linking daily chores with leisure.
Very clearly, the islanders make their point: "Work without singing makes no sense!" Contemplating this way of life is the special credo of this book.
